Simulator
The VV Simulator is a PC-based simulator that has been developed as a tool with which a student can practise techniques learned in the VV Approach lessons. The Simulator has been designed and developed specifically to test and reinforce concepts covered in the lessons, so that the student can practise vectoring techniques with a view to acquiring practical radar skills as a significant step towards a career in ATC.
Most PC-based ATC Simulator programs are intended for entertainment purposes, and will emulate specific airspace (such as LA Approach). Such applications may be realistic, but they are not able to teach rigorous techniques in Air Traffic Control, because no form of methodology is supplied as to how ATC is actually done. The VV Approach Simulator does not aim to mimic traffic scenarios from aerodromes around the globe. Rather, it is intended as an educational tool to enable practice in specific ATC techniques.
If you would like to experience the real world of ATC, try downloading the VV ATCX Extreme radar simulator.
