Completion of the VV Approach™ Home Learning Edition course will benefit the following users:

1. Career Selection

Persons contemplating Air Traffic Control as a career. High-level practical Radar Control skills will be learned, providing the opportunity to self-assess ability to cope with the speed and complexity of mental processing required to do the job. At present the only way of finding that out is to go through the lengthy process of being selected for and doing a formal course, which invariably involves a commitment of some years and a considerable financial investment, possibly for no result. Certainly, modern computer-based aptitude testing procedures give a level of screening, but world-wide failure rates remain high among recruits who have been tested as suitable. It could be said that the best way to find out if a person can do a job is to teach them to do it and observe the result. In ATC, that would be prohibitively expensive to do. VV Approach™ teaches actual, complex Air Traffic Control, and so it tests for actual ATC skills, not a psychology-based analogue of them.

The Basic version is particularly suited to a self-assessment of personal suitability for ATC work.

2. Pre-course Preparation

Persons currently studying, or about to study, Air Traffic Control at a Tertiary Institution. Courses offered by such organisations are often theory-orientated, with only low levels of practical training, and very limited levels of simulation. VV Approach™ offers high-level practical training and unlimited simulation for practice. It is a practical ATC course, not a theory one, so it ideally complements college-type training.

3. Conversion Training

Current controllers in the other streams (Tower, Enroute/Area, Non-radar Approach) who are contemplating a move to a Radar Approach position. VV Approach™ offers these people the opportunity to self-assess their aptitude for the higher-complexity work before embarking on a move that may prove to be not to their suiting. Having decided to make the move, the skills acquired from VV Approach™ will make Terminal Area training far simpler, quicker and less stressful, and the likelihood of success will be much higher.

4. ATC Enthusiasts

Persons who have an interest in Air Traffic Control, but no real intention of pursuing it as a career. VV Approach™ will teach these people how to sequence high-speed aircraft onto a runway in 'deep-immersion' simulation with great control and precision, affording satisfaction from doing real ATC work.

The course is licensed for a single, named student, who becomes a VV Licensed User. The User is not permitted to allow others to train on their copy, and on-selling is prohibited. It replaces a lot of the very expensive training and simulation currently required to teach the same skills, so the running of the software is controlled by a supplied USB security device, programmed to allow it to run on one computer for two years after receipt. It is estimated that that period of time is sufficient to allow any student to complete the program.
