ATCX™ - Radar Simulator and Skills Trainer

VV ATCX™ is a Windows-based Air Traffic Control experience that is the best radar control simulator available to home users. It is based on the VV Approach™ simulator used by training organisations in real ATC instruction.

The VV ATCX™ program provides basic skills development instruction and explanatory material that will get you started in working on some intense and challenging traffic scenarios. It is an indispensable tool for anyone contemplating an ATC career.

The ATCX™ Basic Pack

For the initial release, the Basic Pack will give you an insight into how Air Traffic Control works and teach you Radar Vectoring techniques, including separation and sequencing. It then provides many hours of challenging traffic scenarios on four platforms : MazeX™, NexusX™, GridX™ and DiamondX™. In the early scenarios the traffic levels are user-controlled - you add aircraft as you become confident to handle them. Later scenarios present structured traffic flow, but it can be user-changed to add variety and exposure to a wide range of configurations. For instance, DiamondX™ requires aircraft to be sequenced through gates, but the order in which they pass the gate can be changed on subsequent runs of the scenario, creating a virtually infinite range of combinations for practice and satisfaction.

On all platforms traffic levels and complexity rise as you progress through the scenarios.

ATCX™ Hong Kong Approach

ATCX™ Hong Kong Approach (runway 07 and 25) is available as an add-on. This package contains training that teaches the sequencing of aircraft into Hong Kong International Airport, and the processing of departures that conflict with them. It adapts the techniques taught in the ATCX™ Basic pack to typical traffic flow at Hong Kong. The VV simulator is configured to emulate closely the Radar system used at Hong Kong and aircraft encountered are actual daily arriving and departing flights. In the later scenarios, called The Hong Kong Challenges, overflying aircraft are added, to provide very realistic and challenging Radar Approach Control, again with the option of changing landing order and separation methods for extra practice and satisfaction. Your sequencing result (that is, the accuracy of landing spacing you achieve) is displayed and recorded and a score is given at the conclusion of each scenario, so you can strive for improvement of your radar skills.
